First NFT Collection

After creating traditional artwork for many years, I’ve decided to dip my toes into the NFT space. I just put my first collection of NFTs up for auction here: https://opensea.io/collection/derivations

About this collection:

This collection represents an intersection between a traditional art medium (oil painting) and generative art. The create these pieces, a picture of an oil painting (depicted here) was provided as an input to generative art code. The code then "derived" digital representations of the painting using a collection of shapes. Shape types and sizes are randomized, resulting in digital representations ranging from recognizable to abstract. Additionally, color gradients are randomly applied to some of the pieces as an additional dimension of variability. The mix of random variables ensures that each piece is truly unique. The intent is to provide the community with pieces that appeal to traditional art enthusiasts as well as those who appreciate the randomness and emergent patterns produced with generative art. Limited to 100 unique NFTs.

My hope is that this collection of NFTs will appeal to those who appreciate traditional art, while adding the relatively more recent medium of generative art into the mix. While I appreciate and admire the NFT work that so many others have produced in the past, I think this collection contrasts with the typical NFT subject matter, allowing NFT investors to diversify their portfolio of artwork. Please enjoy!
